We are a drumming group based in London that Brazilian plays
folkloric music from the Pernambuco in the North East of Brazil;
Maracatu
from Recife and Olinda in particular. We give fun and informative
workshops
in various Brazilian rhythms,
although we specialise in Maracatu de Baque Virado. We take
part in The Notting
Hill Carnival among other events throughout the year. We
play authentic Brazilian instruments, you can come and learn
the Gonguê (the Maracatu bell), the Abê (a Maracatu shaker),
the Caixa (the Maracatu snare drum) or the Alfaia/ Bombo (the Maracatu
bass drum). We are the first Maracatu group in the U.K.
